About Strains
Strains is an independent UK cannabis strain database and archive built from original photography, historic reviews and years of collected cultivar research.
Why Strains exists
Cannabis strain information is fragmented.
The same name can be attached to different genetics. Lineage claims frequently conflict. Cannabinoid data from one test or batch can be repeated as though it defines every version of a cultivar.
Strains brings together original archive material and carefully reviewed references while acknowledging those limitations. The aim is not to create false certainty. It is to provide a clearer record of what is known, what has been observed and what remains disputed.
The archive
A strain profile may include:
- Cultivar names and known aliases
- Breeder and lineage claims
- Indica, sativa or hybrid classifications
- Documented THC, CBD and terpene data
- Aroma, appearance and structural notes
- Original cannabis flower photography
- Historic reviews and sample records
- Related strains and genetic family connections
Not every profile contains every field. Records are expanded as stronger material becomes available, and sample-specific information is distinguished from broader claims about the strain wherever possible.
Original photography and review history
Strains was created by Tyler Green, a UK cannabis publisher and photographer. His original flower photography and review work form the foundation of the archive.
Each photograph and archived review documents a particular sample at a particular point in time. It is not presented as a promise that every product sold under the same strain name will look, test or feel identical.
This first-hand material is what separates Strains from databases assembled entirely from copied descriptions and stock imagery.
Our editorial approach
We aim to separate direct observation from breeder descriptions, database entries, historical claims and other third-party material.
Where reliable sources disagree, we record the uncertainty rather than filling the gap with a guess. We do not invent missing lineage information or treat an often-repeated claim as proven simply because it appears on several websites.
Potency, terpene and reported-effect information is presented with context because it can vary between breeders, phenotypes, growing environments, batches, laboratories and individuals.
Opinions and archived review observations are identified as such.
What Strains does not do
Strains is an editorial and cultivar reference.
It does not sell cannabis, recommend products, determine whether a cultivar is medically suitable or provide legal advice. Reported effects describe archived observations or individual experiences; they are not guaranteed outcomes.
Cannabis laws vary between jurisdictions. Do not cultivate or possess cannabis unless legally authorised to do so where you live.
