Violator Kush

Appearance

Violator Kush is listed as an Indica strain, and apparently produces large yields of very resinous flowers on a short, bushy plant.

This bud sample looks good, with multi-coloured pistils ranging from gold to orange. It's been given a reasonable trim job, but the bud comes across as slightly dull rather than glistening in the light.

The bud is very dense - there's almost no give in this one as I squeeze it between my fingers.

Aroma

This smells like you'd expect an old school indica strain to smell - I get earthy, woody notes (apparently also associated with organic grows).

I can smell the kush in its genetics, and also a slight gassyness (or pineyness) that I really wasn't expecting to smell!

The Violator Kush sample smells much stronger once broken and ground up, delivering complex layers of cannascents that all smell good - I was excited to smoke this one!

Taste

Smoking this strain through my bong, I got a good idea of the flavour, which came through reasonably well.

I also vaped some Violator Kush through my Arizer Air 2 to get a better idea of the taste of this strain.

I can taste the earthy pungency of this bud, particularly through my vaporiser. It comes with an almost spicy, woody flavour.

Smoking this through my bong, it doesn't make me need to cough, but does hit with some power.

Effects

Being a full indica, this is a body-stoning strain which is more likely to deliver couch-lock or induce sofa-sitting than get you in the mood for a party.

It took a bit longer to kick in fully than I was expecting, continuing to get me higher for a good 15 minutes or so after consuming the bong and vaporiser of Violator Kush for the review.

Conclusion

Overall, I'd say that Violator Kush is a good strain. However, it was, for some reason, difficult for me to get excited about, despite my general love for indica varieties of cannabis.

The appearance was good, but a little dull. The scent was nice once ground up, but didn't make me want to keep smelling it. The taste was nice, but nothing special (think LA Confidential, but more "spicy" and not in my opinion as nice a flavour), and the effects are fully on the indica side, which I like, but surprisingly isn't my favourite compared to some of the indica-dominant hybrid strains I had sampled recently.

I enjoyed this review, but the strain won't be going down as one of my favourites. That being said, it's pretty strong, and therefore a good smoke for in the evenings once you're ready to relax!
